According to the American Public Health Association, 80% of a student's learning depends on good vision. However, 25% of students in grades K-6 have severe vision problems that hinder their learning.
No child should have to be a part of this statistic. That's why we're here to help low income children in Houston with free eye care and glasses. Empower your children today to reach their full educational potential through vision.

If your school or group is not a part of the listed service area, please contact our Outreach Department for consideration. Each year we strive to expand our service area in order to provide eye care for more underserved children.
1. Vision Screening: Eye Care for Kids sends state certified vision screeners to school and community events. They provide free vision screening to help identify children who may need glasses. This service is offered free of charge to schools in the following counties:
•Fort Bend •Galveston
To schedule a vision screening contact our Outreach Manager.
2. Free Eye Exams and Glasses: A group of 100 eye doctors donate free eye exams and provide eye glasses to identified low-income students. The application process for these free services is usually initiated by the school nurse. To qualify for the services please complete and submit the application to the school nurse. The nurse will then work with the Eye Care for Kids staff to secure approval and identify a nearby doctor.
